Press:

“[The Outer Vibe] was the winner of the FOX’s Rock Search contest last December [2005] and is considered to be one of the Midwest’s finest bands.”
– 101.3 The Fox

“I have many good bands on my page, but [The Outer Vibe] are the freshest sound that I have heard in many years! T.O.V. is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise bland music scene. This band brings back the fun of a time gone by and something new at the same time. I just want to step out and dance. Clean vocals and tight sound tell me that this band is in 'it' for fun. Your music moves me.”
– Itsabou’s Entertainment Gallery

“[Games We Play] could vie for local album of the year.”
– The Grand Rapids Press

“…with this CD, Grand Rapids band The Outer Vibe shows why the group was chosen as the latest Hometown Rock Search winner. ‘Games We Play’ gets your attention from the first sound on ‘Anybody Home’ to the last on ‘I Do’… ’Games We Play’ may be one of the best CDs you’ll hear right now. Buy it; you’ll like it.”
– Revue Magazine, Grand Rapids

The Outer Vibe is the revival of rock and roll's classic power and free thinking soul.

The high energy six piece group uses trumpet, saxophone and keys to color their Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Chicago inspired music.

The Outer Vibe's sound is an innovative take on rock music's most timeless elements, which pays tribute to the voice that screamed out in the 1960's and 70's for change and freedom.

The Outer Vibe has independently recorded and produced 3 full-length albums, and has sold approximately 1500 Cds in the past year. They are currently gathering material for a 4th full length album.

The group is known to fill up to a 900-person capacity concert venue (i.e. Grand Rapids rock club staple, The Intersection). In the most recent year The Outer Vibe has played over 50 shows within a 200-mile radius.

The Outer Vibe's music has aired on a Clear Channel Communications radio station, 101.3 The Fox, as well as numerous independent and college radio stations. The band has organized, hosted and performed at their own large scale local music showcase, titled The Big Gig, featuring a number of West Michigan artists.

The Outer Vibe performed at Fox Fest 2006, opening for REO Speedwagon and the Tubes, a result of winning the 13th annual Aris Hampers Hometown Rock Search. They have also taken first place in the 91.5 WHMW's 2005 Battle of the Bands, the 2004 97.9 WGRD Big Break Contest, and the 2001 West Michigan High School Battle of the Bands.

At the annual Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts (the biggest volunteer-run event in the nation), The Outer Vibe consistently has the highest CD sales of any musical act.

Other national acts the band has opened for include: Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Dirty Americans, Sponge, Days of the New, Primer 55, and Bliss 66.

Hi - I would like to thank you personally for being a member of SonicJive - we have big things in store for 2009, exciting changes, new features and increased opportunities for you to get valuable exposure for your music along with opportunities to make money.  We have now been at it for 18 months and we are looking forward to an exciting year, in fact, 2009 is being proclaimed as "The Year Of The Indies", as music looks for alternatives to create growth in an industry that has been stagnant for far too long.  We believe that SonicJive.com will play a big part in the resurgence of music sales going forward and that independent music will lead the way.

I come to you today, to ask if you believe that as well.  Once a year we ask members to donate to help defray the costs of running SonicJive.com, that, when including time, software upgrades, server costs, bandwidth and upgrades costs as much as $5,000.00 per month.  Many of you also know that I have personally purchased much of the music on this site, through Amazon, CD Baby, MusicSubmit and Amie Street, among others.  The entire site is self-funded by me and we do not charge for advertisements or memberships.

By asking members to help out you can ensure the same, continued personal service that separates SonicJive from the other sites and allow us to expand and diversify the site with things like compilation CDs, member CD reviews, royalty-paid radio and a site re-design and upgrade.  If you wish to contribute you can mail a payment to my paypal account in any amount at mikecanter@sonicjive.com - anything from as little as $5 helps.  Your donation ensures that we can remain competitive and innovative in our niche market.  We are hoping that each of you can make a minimum  $15 donation in our once-per-year donation drive that runs now through December 31, 2008.

Donations of $20 or more will be split 50/50 with the program for FEEDING AMERICA'S HUNGRY CHILDREN and donations of $50 will include a free copy of the 2008 Best Of SonicJive compilation CD.  Donations of $100 or more will include the CD, a SonicJive t-shirt and will get you a banner ad for one year.    If you are anti-paypal - you can send a check to Michael Canter dba SonicJive.com, 403 N. Main Street Unit A, Thiensville, WI 53092.

With SonicJive, I have invested a great deal of time and money, and personal sacrifice because I want to lead that change.  I listen to the music on SonicJive, your music, and I know that what we have to offer is better than what is being force fed to us in radio today.  Even satellite radio, which was supposed to signal a change in the tried and true, has deviated and gone more mainstream in order to support massive debt and expense.  Internet radio and specialized podcasts are set to take over and create a format-free platform that will challenge the status quo and signal a paradigm change that will save the music industry.  The SonicJive utility wants to lead the way.

Thank you for your support and best wishes for a successful 2009.

Warm Regards,
Michael Canter

We have updated our articles section overnight. Now when a member writes a blog and selects a mood, the choices available come from song titles performed by SonicJive artists. We chose your song "Don't Let The Days Go By" as an article "mood" - we hope you will take time to post articles for our members to read.

Regards,
~Michael
