The Benton House, strongly rooted in the Bridgeport neighborhood, has a rich history, having served families in the community for nearly 100 years. We currently have a wide range of programs and activities, from "Tots 'n' Partners," to our Golden Diner's Senior Programs, to our summer day camp.

Bentonhouse

Our gym building is currently home to our “B.R.I.D.G.E.” program for at risk youth, which serves 120 children ages eight to nineteen, Monday through Thursday. In the last four years, thanks to the hard work of the community and generous donations from UPS and Home Depot, we have added a fifty-seat movie theatre in addition to our new art room to supplement these programs. Currently, as a part of a resurgence of the idea to emphasize family, we sponsor a father and child family floor hockey league on Sunday afternoons, as well as family concerts and outings.

Our vision to enrich the lives of individual residents and the neighborhood as a whole is especially relevant today. We fight a daily battle to keep our part of the neighborhood safe, keep the children on the right path, and provide life enriching services to people who have been coming through our doors for most of their lives. Although many parts of the neighborhood have seen significant increases in property value, here ninety percent of the families of the children who attend Armour and Holden schools are classified at or below the poverty level. This part of our neighborhood is home to public housing projects, gang violence hot spots, and lower real estate values. It has been our backyard for more than 90 years.

Together with: Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation, After School Matters, Jam Production's Rock For Kids, and our friends in the music industry we are offering a unique opportunity for Chicago Youth to be introduced to the many careers in Audio Engineering. See how making a SOUND CHOICE, can be a great ALTERNATIVE to hanging in the park. Find your Alternative in Sound Production.

Hello and welcome everyone, We are currently in the studio with Sara Lee from Atlanta, GA. We finished our session at Studio Chicago today, where we cut vocals, and put together a rough mix. Things are going great, as some of you may know, or can imagin, tracking in a studio is way different than playing live. Two different animals. Sara is learning the studio world and is trying to adapt. After working with Producer Don Medina she is honing the vocals and the tracks are really coming together well.

Friday, I am going to let Sara sleep in, she needs it. She has work very hard to come back to Atlanta with a killer demo. With the guys that backed her up, this little southern bell held her own in the city that is Chicago. Joe Moss was very impressed by Sara's voice,

Everyone wish her well, and she'll be home soon
