"2005 Independent Music Award Winner Rachael Sage writes what THE VILLAGE VOICE calls "lovely and literate folk-pop-rock. An innovative, improvisational keyboardist..."
Rachael Sage is truly a renaissance performer. Self-taught on the piano from age 3, she went on to study at The School of American Ballet in her adolescence, and later earned a degree in Drama from Stanford University. Following Shakespearean studies at The New York Public Theater and a one-year stint with New York City’s renowned Actors Studio, Sage rediscovered her passion for songwriting and took the New York City music scene by storm.
She has been compared to such artists as Laura Nyro for her gorgeous piano driven melodies, and to Patti Smith for her dynamic poetry and emotional intensity. Sage has earned media accolades for her songwriting talents, including Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the Billboard Songwriting Award and First Prize in The Lilith Fair Talent Search; she also received the 2005 Outmusic Award (Best Songwriter) for her work on Ballads & Burlesque. While on tour in France earlier this year, her music was discovered by Judy Collins, who invited her to perform at several of her Wildflower Festivals along with Joan Osborne. Sage has also recently shared stages with Liz Phair, Melissa Etheridge and Marshall Crenshaw.

Well, they were right about the gig...over 60,000 people attended the birthday of the VW Transporter in Hannover at the Messe. Our band "The Bulli Allstars" played the afternoon to get the people started. MTV Europe, Patrice, were there and Barbara Shoenenberger hosted (what a fox). They set up 2 gigantic stages 90 degrees from each other and sandwiched the crowd in the middle. Easier to rotate the bands. We started and Sasha then Sweetie Glitter and then THE WHO..To close out the night we finished with another hour of songs.. The party was really the backstage area.. I made a total ass of myself..sang "Pinball wizard" and gave a "Smile Baby" CD to Roger D. (Hey he laughed) Pete Townsend stayed in his dressing area. Rabbit (Hammond) was really a nice and talkative guy. (we had a Hammond player too, Wolfman). I stayed up all day and night(did not want to miss a thing) I only had to sing about 4 songs.
We should be getting better pictures and articles soon so I will post on the site.

Hi Rachel thanx 4 the add, checked out your stuff & i like it, cheers Rick
Your Milwaukee show was great and it was so very cool to meet you - thanks for the pics.
BTW -I love the video for "Wildflower" - it reminds me of a show I used to watch on Sunday Mornings as a child called "The Magic Door". Have you seen that?
I will look into SXSW and if I can arrange it we would love to have you play at our reception and I am looking forward to working with you.
I liked your review on the front page - so I listened - now I wanna buy your music but don't have a credit card - can I send a money order somewhere? I could use my dad's but its for school only and he'd kill me. I love that you wrote about Chaya - I read that story freshman year.
well - I am going to try to make it up to Milwaukee next month - I guess a whole group is going. I know Mike and he must really love your music - he never goes out!!! All he does is work - LOL. I wish your show was on a Friday but I can make do. What time do you do your set - I saw there was a few bands playing that night......
