Donny B. Lord continues to captivate audiences around the world with the soulful whispery R&B vocals of Michael Jackson, the raspy cries of Bob Marley and Sting, the urban dancehall sounds of the Caribbean, haunting World rhythms & contemporary Pop hooks. He is a crossover artist whose stage show is just as impressive as his musical talent as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. He is trained classically in World and Ballet dance and in martial arts, creating a live show of gravity defying dance moves, and alluring onstage charm and sensuality. His exotic good looks and professional showmanship have captivated audiences not only in the United States, but also in England, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the Caribbean.
Donny B. Lord's "Soldier For Love" has already reached #2 on the African music charts and his crossover R&B slow jam "Stay" has reached # 4 on the East African charts. He has had 7 songs in six Top 10 categories on Broadjam.com, which services more than 100 countries around the world, including the “R&B/Soul”, "Rap Hip Hop", "Production- Male Vocals", "Production Up Tempo", "Top 10 for the West Region of the U.S.", and the "California Top 10" categories.
Donny B. Lord’s music has been featured in advertising campaigns for Motorola and Verizon and on the Emmy Award winning television series "The District". His Latin/Dancehall hit “Fire!” won second place in the Dance category of The International Songwriting Competition and received radio airplay in Costa Rica, and his song "We Can Do It Like..." received an honorable mention in the 2006-7 International Songwriting Competition and will be featured this year in a feature film "The Bliss". Singles off his album, including the breathtaking R&B ballad "Shadi's Song", have received airplay in the Caribbean, and his recent 4-song EP “We Can Do It Like…” is available world wide on and nationally on his Curly Locks Productions BurnLounge Independent Retail Record Store, riding the wave of the online independent music industry revolution.
Donny B. Lord has already established a core fan base as a singer, composer, producer, and television and film actor, and has been featured in The New York Times, The Orange County Register, Remix Magazine, Dramalogue, the Caribbean newspaper The Mirror and the MTV and VH1 websites.
Born in St. Lucia in the British West Indies, D.B.L. grew up immersed in three cultures--Caribbean, American and European. He lived and traveled all over the world, acquiring an eclectic mélange of musical influences, from Reggae, R&B and Rock, to Middle Eastern and African. His passion for music soon cultivated a passion for entertaining. He trained as a vocalist, an actor, a martial artist and a dancer, studying Modern, African, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Ballet.
As a teenager, D.B.L. had already landed lead spots in commercials for Pepsi, Cheerios, Footlocker, and Iron Kids Bread with Jennifer Love Hewitt. He performed as a singer and dancer on “The People’s Choice Awards” with pop singer Brandy, and also performed in the boy band MIXX, created by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and eldest brother of Michael Jackson, Jackie Jackson. D.B.L. also collaborated with Jackson on musical compositions and live performances.
Donny B. Lord’s only interest isn’t music. He also commenced an acting career, co-starring as the young Hank Gathers opposite veteran actor George Kennedy in “Final Shot: The Hank Gathers Story”, and also starred as an Ethiopian prince in the now syndicated television sitcom “Designing Women”.
Currently, D.B.L. is in the studio working on creating mainstream music that embraces his international roots. As his career reaches new heights of achievement and accomplishment, D.B.L.’s commitment to growth remains the same. “When I stay humble and listen powerfully, I stay in constant motion of evolution and fulfillment,” he says. “I am committed to creating new possibilities everyday in life, music and art.
