MY RATING: 10.00

As far as live action goes, Shawshank Redemption and Blade Runner are the top two. Mostly I watch anime. Some good stuff includes Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Azumanga Daioh, Wolf's Rain, Samurai Champloo, Excel Saga, Elfen Lied, Akira, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam Wing/Seed...the list could go on for ever. Just ask me if you want suggestions.

I like almost everything. Country and some gangsta rap are not my thing. Neither is atonal...Charles Ives and John Cage give me a stiff pain in the eardrums. As far as I'm concerned there's good music and there's crap music, and I like some of each. It's always good to be able to distinguish between music you like and music you respect (not that the two are mutually exclusive or anything).

Steely Dan and Yoko Kanno are my respective gods and goddess.

I probably know about 50,000 songs, so a list of artists could be intense... A few favorites include (this is really tough, so please don't take this as a comprehensive list)

A Perfect Circle (really like the song Passive), Aaron Copland (Eugene Ormandy's recordings are the best), The Band, The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Blind Faith, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Blue Man Group, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Bruce Springsteen, The Chemical Brothers, Chick Corea, Christopher Cross, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Crystal Method, Daft Punk, Dark Tranquility, David Bowie (huge influence on my music), Depeche Mode, Disturbed, Dream Theater, Elton John, Eminem, Eric Clapton (Cream is the best), Fleetwod Mac, Foo Fighters (really like the song Best Of You), Genesis, Glenn Gould, Hall & Oates, Head Automatica, Heaven's ReBirth, Imogen Heap, In Flames, Incubus, James Taylor, Jethro Tull, Jimmy Eat World, Juno Reactor, Kraftwerk, L'Arc-en-Ciel, Lacuna Coil, Loreena McKennitt, Lovin' Spoonful, Mae, The Mamas & The Papas, Manic Street Preachers, Marilyn Manson, Metallica (even though I think they're assholes), Michael Schenker Group, Midnight's Exile (I'm lucky enough to have heard his work pre-release...it's SICK), Mike Oldfield (Tubular Bells is sick), Mindless Self Indulgence, Miyamoto Shunichi, The Moody Blues, Moxy Fruvous, Neil Young, Nickelback (yea, I'm kinda ashamed to admit that...), Nightwish, Nina Simone, Nirvana, NOFX, Otis Redding, Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel, Pharell, Phil Collins (another one I'm not so thrilled about admitting to :P), Pink Floyd, The Police, The Postal Service, Prince, Procul Harum, Queen, R.E.M., Rage Against The Machine (not crazy about their politics, but they are good...), Rammstein, Rickie Lee Jones, Robert Miles, Robert Palmer, The Rolling Stones (to some degree...they get really repetitive after a while), Rush, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Santana, Scatman John, Sly & The Family Stone, Sniper, Steely Dan (probably one of the two most influential artists on my work), Sting, The Streets, System of a Down, Tears for Fears, Three Days Grace (they're a hack talent, but I like listening to them), Traffic, Truth Street, U2 (but not in the obsessive way a lot of people like them...), Weather Outpost 12 (also on Sonicjive, check them out), Yes, Yoko Kanno (the other artist with a huge influence on my work), Zero 7, 押尾コータロー

As you can see it's a pretty huge list, and that's not even the TIP of the iceberg. Drop me a line if you ever want suggestions for listening/have suggestions for me (best gifts I ever get are referrals to new artists).

Also, I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, but I'm rapidly becoming a raver. I'd LOVE suggestions if people have them.

Lots of manga that probably overlaps a lot with the anime list. Lots of Japanese modern literature and poetry (Abe Kobo, Ryunosuke Aktugawa, Banana Yoshimoto and Tawara Machi are pretty high up there). Lots of English poetry too (like Romanticism probably the most). Wallace Stevens, Richard Wilbur, Alfred Lord Tennyson, William Carlos Williams...many others but those come to mind at present. Dante's Inferno is incredible too.

4th term, second year of the Harvard tour, and still breathing strangely enough. Music is my oxygen: don't get enough of it in my bloodstream each day and I start to hyperventilate :P If my studies at all interest you, do ask, but my hope is that you'll get that my idea of euphoria is a stage with a mic and my band right beside me, not Lamont Library.... My political views are intricate, and vary spectrum-wise issue to issue. I don't like either party frankly, and I fear the damage Bush has done in office may be irrevocable. I tend to swing liberal on social issues and conservative on economic/foreign policy issues. There are many exceptions to that (the most notable of which is that I'm pretty much pro-life), but that's the general gestalt of it. Some say that makes me a libertarian, but I can't say I like our libertarian party so much. Ask me if you want to know more about that.

I was born in New York City, and assuming I emerge from my excessive education with a few marbles still rolling around upstairs, I'm never leaving my beautiful home town ever again. Well, at least not for extended periods of time ;)

I write fusion...so to speak. You know that option on facebook for relationships that says "it's complicated?" Well, it's sort of like that for my music as well. If you need a box to check, you can call it rock. I call it my essence and you might find it cool. Can't hurt to take a listen right?

Apart from music I love all things Japanese (especially manga/anime), I love tactics and strategy, I love martial arts, I love my family and I love God. I'm sort of a mut ethnically, but I'm most proud of my Sicilian heritage. I believe in honor and loyalty, and I devote a good part of my life to my faith and my morality. I don't have a clique and I don't want one. I have the best, most loyal friends anyone could ask for, and believe me I will take that any day. I dance to my own beat, unless someone else is drumming a more kicking one than I am. You might say I'm eccentric...I just say I'm not homogeneity personified.

You can check out www.devavidon.com for more on my music. We're still under construction at the moment, but we should be up and running soon. My debut album is coming out soon as well. You can get a taste from any of the three available. The last one was remixed and re-sung by the ever talented Weather Outpost 12 (the original is on the album). They've got a whole lot more music out than I do, so if you dig it, check out their page on sonicjive.

Anything cute (in the most anthropological sense of the word ;). I guess you can say I'm a sucker for Kawaii culture. People who adore unabashedly and expect the same from their mates. The concept that staying in to watch anime in only your other's company is more fun than going out to get wasted. Neon colored hair is hot.

Heavy concerts, Cosplay, Comicons and Home Cooking all do if for me too. Audiophile speakers, high end Italian and Japanese food, fine wine and baseball are among the elite of God's gift to mankind.

Ignorant intolerance, hubris, sadism, manipulative head games and country music. People who have to be high or drunk constantly just to get through life have my deepest sympathy.

Anime and manga (how did you guess?). Actually I'm putting together an anime/manga collection for the Harvard Yenching Library. Oodles of fun. Used to play WoW but it was eating my soul so I stopped. Get into politics a fair amount: my grand crusade is eliminating agricultural subsidies and introducing sugar based ethanol fuels until our battery technologies are good enough to support genuinely electric engines. You may see a rant or two on this subject. I do graphic design work here and there. Occasionally I write/speak on information assurance and managing online security. Been practicing Krav Mogah for 11 years now. It levels me out. I eat and sleep recreationally.
